GLEN HOUSE
The peri-urban dwelling often asks us for architectural features of a rural typology, but in our case, we chose to first seek a response of adequate implantation and orientation in the land which we had to intervene. The land is an interesting property of irregular shape and topography, located in La Cañada, Urubo – Santa Cruz, the landscape demands an open architecture, to enjoy the views of the landscape and oriented in such a way that we protect these large openings of the direct sun and at the same time take advantage of the prevailing winds and be able to have a cool house and beautiful views.
That is why we propose an elongated box, which turns its back on the west sun and opens on its main faces towards the best views and the North-Northwest winds. We take advantage of this form and orientation also to place the swimming pool and the outdoor living spaces towards the front. The volume consists of a perforated container to achieve great views and entries of light and wind, as already mentioned. The light is filtered internally by all environments but indirectly, we allow light but not the sun, we achieve a bright, but comfortable house. The form, which despite being a single container, is formally and spatially decomposed as two boxes, juxtaposed to achieve integrated and fluid spaces. This assembly of boxes achieves greater ease and impact on the outside and towards the interior gives a luminous belt that embraces the whole. All the spaces are related thanks to a large nexus of double height located in the center of the house, which becomes the organizer and communicator of all the functions and internal spaces in both floors. The result is a composite, but unified, blunt and functional set.
